Green technology
for redevelopment

Almost 10 years after its creation, the historic mural of Rebibbia becomes "eco" thanks to the photocatalytic restoration with eco-paints, curated by Yourban 2030 and promoted by ATAC, the Rome mobility company.

The historic mural in the Rebibbia Metro square was created in 2014 by Zerocalcare as part of the collaboration between ATAC and AIE "Associazione Italiana Editori", on the occasion of the thirteenth edition of "Più Libri Più liberi", the National Fair of small and medium publishing, and with the curated by 999 Contemporary.

The work is part of the ATAC project aimed at repositioning and increasing the perception of decorum of Rome's local public transport infrastructure.

THE MURALES

Yourban 2030 returns with a new challenge

With the green restoration of Zerocalcare's Mammuth, Yourban 2030 returns with a new challenge: using green technology interventions not only for new works but also for the redevelopment of existing ones.

The Mammoth by Zerocalcare has been restored with the use of eco-sustainable paints that transform polluting agents (such as nitrogen and sulfur oxides, benzene, formaldehyde and carbon monoxide) into salt molecules: with its 60 m2, restored with eco-paints, from today have an ecological impact equal to 2.4 trees planted, with 12.8 Euro 6 petrol cars whose pollution is eliminated every day and 34.1 kg of CO2 less in the air.

The Artist

Maria Bressan

The restoration of the Mammuth was carried out by a young Friulian artist, Maria Bressan aka Rosmunda, an Italian muralist and illustrator who lives and works in Carrara, Tuscany, and has social and environmental issues at heart.

Her research is based on the relationship between man and nature. Since 2018 you have created numerous murals between Italy and Spain and you firmly believe that Street art is an effective tool for creating belonging by reviving places and people from decay.
